Abstract/Summary

This creative nonfiction thesis will involve coming-of-age essays employing the framework indicated by Cristina Pantoja Hidalgo, and Philip Gerard. This dissertation will present the history of creative nonfiction in the Philippines, and its evolution. Following are the authors coming-of-age stories which illustrate the innocence associated with childhood, the transition to adulthood, and the enlightenment that append growing up, the first being the authors personal discovery of literature. The second essay will be about his first encounter with death. The third will be about the vanity of an imagined relationship. The fourth essay will be about the authors search for brotherhood and camaraderie, and finally, the fifth essay will be about the odyssey of finding belongingness.
