Abstract/Summary

The existence of competition among businesses is deemed to be necessary as it brings up the organization’s best performance. The competitive intensity among rival firms pushes them to continuously search for the most efficient way in doing things to ensure the delivery of high quality products and services. Nevertheless, government interventions have caused some private utility companies in the Philippines to have a fixed and ready market, hence, ensuring a certain level of profit as well as the absence of aggressive business competition. In the pursuit of every organization to become successful, they recognize the significance of developing the full potential of every employee, who will take care of the customers, who in turn will take care of the business. Organizations have placed more emphasis in training their workers to be more holistic and adaptable to the never-ending and varying customer needs and wants. Rather than focusing on a radical form of change, a planned change effort seems to be more viable and effective, since its effects could reach other employees to a greater extent through acceptance rather than a forced procedure. This study evaluated the effectiveness of the use of an accelerated training approach in the context of Maynilad Water Services Incorporated when hiring and selecting employees through interview with successful Cadet Engineers and Human Resource Officers. In conclusion, it was proven to be an effective strategy not only in satisfying these three basic human resource functions, but also in developing technical skills and drawing out the right kind of attitudes - which will eventually lead into greater operational efficiency and financial viability.
