Abstract/Summary

Philippines has been active in the non-bank financial institutions for quite some time and it has been a motor for development to the Philippine economy for many years. These non-bank financial institutions help other industries to grow through providing capitalization and sometimes, they even help in management. However, as decades pass, the development in these non-bank financial institutions has been slow. Specifically, this paper will discuss three of the many non-bank financial institutions namely Venture Capital Firms, Finance Companies and Investment Banks. The paper will provide industry background, industry profile and it will discuss the current problems these financial institutions encounter.
