Abstract/Summary
My father, food and I is an intimate portrait documentary about Gene Gonzalez through the point-of-view of his daughter, Giannina Gonzalez. The chef shows the importance of food as an expression of love for those he prepares them for, and in this case, his family. The documentary employs the emotional approach and is a combination of videos from Gene's day-to-day activities, as witnessed by his daughter and interviews from the subject and some members of the family. It was filmed over a period of 9 months. The documentary illustrates the different roles of Gene Gonzalez-- as a chef, a teacher and a father and the treatment of food in each role.
