Abstract/Summary
This project is a children's book on anxiety. It covers what anxiety feels like and instructs young children about the truth of mental illness. It shows that anxiety is a very real, terrifying thing that only a few people at the present time could understand. It aims to give hope and understanding to children who are experiencing the symptoms of anxiety at a young age. It is a way to show them that their feelings are valid, and that they are not the only ones in the world with this kind of problem.
The proponent interviewed people with anxiety at different times, from June 2019 to July 2019. The proponent noticed that most of the interviewees stated that they started exhibiting symptoms of anxiety at around 8-10 years old, but were only able to get help during their late teens or early twenties. The proponent wondered why no one has noticed this trend and decided to explain mental illness through the eyes of a child.
