Abstract/Summary

Maria Corazon torres y Javier Foundatin is a non-governmental organization that aims to make Filipinos aware of the needs, values, and requirements of organ and tissue donation in the Philippines through its REnal Gift Allowing Life for Others (REGALO) Organ Donation Advocacy. The communication goal of REGALO is for potential donors to discuss their donation decision with their families. For the organization to fulfill this goad, it communicates social support to potential donors to help them discuss their donation decision with their families through talks, brochure, and social media. However, the communication audit revealed that potential donors do not discuss their donation decision with their family because the social support messages coming from the organization are unable to match and satisfy their needs in discussing. In particular, they lack information about when, where and how they can discuss, and who to contact for help or assistance about the topic.
To address this organizational communication problem, a multimedia kit which consists of a short film, flyer, and brochure was created to help potential donors discuss their donation decision with their families. Guided by the Optimal Matching Model (Cutrona & Russell, 1990; Cutrona & Suhr, 1992; Rains, 2018) and Narrative Framework (Baezconde-Garbanati et al., 2014), in-depth interviews with significant people and experts were conducted by the group to ensure that accurate and culturally relevant information are included in the multimedia kit.
