Abstract/Summary

This project is a 20-minute personal documentary on the daily life of the proponent's family and how their lives revolve around raising Andre, the family's eldest son who is diagnosed with Autism. The documentary covers the typical but distinctive events and home environment inside the Dominguez household such as how Robin and Pie Dominguez (parents) take care and nurture Andre despite the challenges, Andre attending school and Speech therapy sessions, and Ayela (proponent) reflecting on how the future would be like when her parents pass the baton to her in takiing on the responsibility of llking after Andre.
The proponent captured the highlights of the Dominguez famlly's life for 3 weeks. She accompanied Andre in a Speech therapy session and also spent a week observing him attending special school. While filming, the proponent got to know Andre more and realized that even though children with Autism find social interactions challenging, they are capable of learning and doing the basic functional skills.
