Abstract/Summary

The research team aims to uncover how Filipinos view people with disabilities and their relationship in the working industry. The issue lies between inability of PWDs to find employment and the lack of research done to help address the issue. the researchers follow the lives of people with special needs employed in companies that gave them opportunities to actually be employed and work normally with other people. This includes everyday tasks, their environment and interplay in the daily lives of others. The documentary involves the point of view of their family members and note on their relatives condition and environment.
Senyas is a 20-minute documentary on the life if 2 deaf workers, Rica Buna and Clara Agcaoili who are both working in the toll manufacturing company, M.M. Guanzon Inc. (MMGI) as a quality control for hydro production and a packer for juice production respectively. Outside of work, Rica lives in a small house in Multinational Village along with her live-in partner who is also deaf, Kazandra Ballesteros. Kazandra may be deaf but she wears a hearing aid giving her the ability to hear and converse with others. At times when they go out, Kazandra serves as Rica's interpreter. One day, in June 2019 there was a fire in Rica and Kazandra's house which caused their community to gave no electricity which gravely affected then and other residents.
Clara, on the other hand, lives with her family. She is the only one who is deaf from her family making it difficult for her to actually communicate at home. although, when she is not working or at home, she takes time to serve in her baptist church located in Laguna wherein she serves in a Sunday school for deaf.
