Abstract/Summary
A system study was conducted on Blaine Personal and Home Care Corporation, quality raw materials and finished products provider for cosmetics, pharmaceutical, personal and home cares industries both locally and abroad. To assess the present system of the company, a SWOT analysis was done. Based from these findings, a WOT-SURG situational appraisal was performed in order to determine the main problem of the company. After the analysis, it was determined that the major problem was that the company was incurring a total opportunity loss of PHP 3,210,870.78 due to unmet demand.
The root causes of the problem were identified using the Why-Why Diagram. It was identified that the main causes of the problem were production stoppages and plant capacity. In order to address these concerns, solutions were suggested for the Proposed System. These include Adjustment of Work Schedule, Extension of Production Days, Supplier Switching Policy, Process Improvements and Inventory Tracking System. With these recommendations, the total opportunity loss would ultimately be reduced or eliminated.
