Abstract/Summary
This study focuses on the technical efficiency of the selected non-life insurance companies in the Philippines for the years 2002-2011. Data envelopment analysis is the method used to assess and evaluate the technical efficiency of each non-life insurance company. The model that will be used for this method is the Charnes, Cooper, ad Rhodes (CCR) model. The inputs that will be used are total underwriting expense, debt capital and equity capital while the outputs are gross premiums and gross investment income. Results show that 20 out of 71 non-life insurance companies were technically efficient for 10 years while the industry, on a 10 year average, is 95.67% technically efficient.
