Abstract/Summary
This thesis is an analysis of Frank McCourt's Angela's Ashes and how religion influences the Irish Catholics' perceptions of suffering. It is also a study of McCourt's narration based on Giles B. Gunn's theory on literature and its relation to religion, mainly the two ways of viewing literature in Theological Criticism based on modern Semantic Theory and Amos N. Wilder's Uses of a Theological Criticism, which focuses on rhetoric.
