Abstract/Summary
This study investigated the impact of the entry of the ten (10) new foreign banks in the profitability and performance efficiency of the existing foreign and selected domestic banks in the Philippines for the year 2002-2008. Increased penetration of foreign banks reduces the net interest margin of other banks. However it allowed existing foreign and selected domestic banks to increase their performance efficiency thru reducing overhead cost to be competitive.
