This is an explanatory-descriptive study that aims to describe the profile and post retirement experiences of professional basketball players who retired due to basketball-related injuries. It focused on the type of injury causing the retirement, the effects of the retirement, the different factors which facilitate or hindered the ability of the athlete in coping with the stress of the changes, and how they adjusted as an effect of their coping strategies. The sample composed of 10 players from the Philippine Basketball Association, all of whom retired due to an injury. Data was gathered with the use of an interview guide, which was used during the one-on-one interview with each respondent. Results of the study shoe that a main effect of the retirement was financial in nature, although there were other effects that added to the stress the athlete experienced. A combination of different facilitating and hindering factors present at the time of the event also affects the ease with which the athlete tries cope with the stress brought on by the changes.
