Abstract/Summary
This study is aimed to find out the perceived effects of workplace wellness programs to the well-being of employees in the three selected retail companies in Metro Manila. Due to the nature of their work, employees tend to experience excessive stress that could affect their well-being. Workplace wellness programs are believed to be the key in order to maintain the well-being of the employees. Determining the different types of wellness programs implemented by the selected companies was one of the objectives of the study. Furthermore, this study also aimed to gather additional information that can be related to the implementation of workplace wellness programs on the selected companies and their perceived effects to the employees.
The results of this paper revealed that there is a positive perceived effect to the well-being of employees after they have participated in the workplace wellness programs implemented by their respective companies. Based from the conducted surveys and interviews, it was discovered that five out of seven wellness programs are common among the three participating companies. These types of wellness programs that are common among all are weight control, physical exercises, wellness seminars, health risk assessment, and other types of wellness programs that the company has. Meanwhile, only some are offering stress management and smoking cessation.
