Abstract/Summary
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has been an emerging trend in businesses today. In the plastic industry, specifically in the industrial packaging industry, the products that are being produced are deemed to be one of the sources of environmental deterioration. Companies in the said industry are called upon to practice CSR in order to address environmental concerns. The practice of CSR can be costly, but the benefits fulfilling. In the course of this research, the proponents determined the significance of the relationship between CSR and profits in the industrial packaging industry. The goal of this paper is to identify if the top companies in the industry practices CSR, the specific environmental CSR practices, and the changes in profits before and during the implementation of CSR. The methodology used for this research is to interview the management of the top companies, and acquire financial statements from the Security Exchange Commission, which were used to determine and analyze the significance of the relationship between CSR and profits. At the end of the study, the researchers found that there is no significant relationship between CSR and profits in the industrial packaging industry.
