The franchise industry in the Philippines has boomed to a big player in the economy of our country and is expected to continuously grow. This major industry has brought about million and millions of money into the economy of the Philippines and has made the country into one of the potential franchise hubs in Asia. However as large as it may seem, there are still imperfections and problems encountered in the franchise industry in the Philippines which are subject to controversy and issue.

The laws of the Philippines are hard pressed in encompassing business format franchising in our country. The applicability of the laws produces a lot of questions which leads others to believe that current laws in the Philippines are inadequate and are not efficient in resolving disputes.

The liberal entrance into the franchise has initially been an advantage but eventually it became one i=of the breeding grounds of disputes and problems. Basically speaking, as the number of franchises continue to grow, so do the unscrupulous franchises that seek nothing more than take advantage of the gullible.

This paper seeks to tackle the laws of the Philippines and finding out in what areas it is inadequate as well as laying down the foundation for standards of a business into entering franchising.
