Abstract/Summary
With the rising demand for electricity in the Philippines, the government is compelled to act fast in developing its sources. One option is to revive the controversial Bataan Nuclear Power Plant via House Bill 4631. This interdisciplinary paper examines the legal consequences of operating the said power plant, in relation to pertinent Philippine environmental laws. A basic understanding of power plant operation is also revealed. Scientific data is correlated with the law, after a thorough critical analysis. Likewise, relevant court ruling are reviewed to provide a clearer understanding on the application of the law. Finally, a conclusion and recommendation is rendered, thereby addressing the need for an informed decision on the fate of the BNPP.
