Abstract/Summary

Jowbi Wood Products Manufacturing, Inc. is a medium scale manufacturer of furniture products. The company has no existing computerized system. At present, everything is done manually. As a result, the present system inevitably produces a large amount of physical databases which occupy so much space. The many piles of paper cannot be trashed out for these are useful for future references. Some of these documents are even used as basis for new transactions and sales. Aside from this, the company has been using the same method in handling files and storing records with the use of pen and paper every since. In this line, the group proposed an information system (IS) for the company. The IS will aim to help the company cut down on excess paperwork and to systemize file handling, record storage and retrieval. By shifting from the manual to the computerized system, business productivity will increase as data redundancy will be reduced, if not eliminated. Relevant data supporting management in their decision making processes will also be provided. The IS will cover the Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Sales, Journal Entries, Ledgers, and Cheques system. The proponents will develop the customized system software using Foxpro v.2.5 for Windows, in a networking environment featuring shared databases.
