Abstract/Summary
This is an advocacy on World Vision Development Foundation's Bicycle Assistance Program. Our goal is to give the children in the municipality of San Isidro, Isabela a chance to have a bright future by providing them with a means of transportation in going to school. This is because, in 5 villages of San Isidro, the location of the school is far from the communities. Public transportation is only available in one of the villages so then children have no choice but to walk in order to attend their classes. But even when public transportation like tricycles is available, their parents could not afford to pay the tricycle fare. The results is most of them are late in class and are too exhausted to concentrate on their studies.
To solve this problem, we aim to provide these children with bicycles that they can use in going to school. By solving their problem on access, they will be more energetic and lively in class, thus improving their academic performance. This will also give them time for play and recreation. All which will lead to development of a child's full potential.
We will also propose events and projects to create awareness and solicit funds from individuals and corporations. Our proposed plan is on a 1-year time frame and we aim to distribute the bicycles by the 11th month of our calendar. Our project in San Isidro will be the pilot project of our Bicycle Assistance Program. We intend to expand this program to other municipalities with similar problems in the province of Isabela, and eventually expand the program to the other provinces in our country.
