Abstract/Summary
Abstract. The study attempts to describe the changes brought about by the construction and subsequent opening of the MRT on the traffic along EDSA. It aims to point out areas of extreme congestion during the peak hours of the day.
The study uses travel time measurements and volume studies as primary data gathering instruments while ocular evaluation of the traffic process itself as a secondary instrument.
With the current level of traffic along the main thoroughfare of EDSA it becomes an extreme discomfort to workers and students alike to get to their destination when they need to use the said road. And while the MRT offers a partial solution to easing this difficulty, the fare rates demanded still prevent a lot of people from using the MRT as a means to get to their destination. So despite its construction, the fact remains that traffic difficulty is still evident.
In view of the above observation, it becomes increasingly necessary for better solutions to be found with regards to the traffic problems still plaguing EDSA, it being the main vein of conveyance in Metro Manila today.
