Abstract/Summary

The Candle Republic Inc. is a firm engaged in the manufacturing of gel candles. The proponents settled on the corporate name of CANDLE REPUBLIC INCORPORATED. The word CANDLE was chosen because the proponents are manufacturing candles, specifically gel candles. On the other hand, the word REPUBLIC was chosen because of its etymological origin, the Latin phrase res publica literally translated as the public thing . These two words are associated in such a way that the product is generally created and manufactured for the public.

Candle Republic Inc. is composed of determined, committed, and pro-active people who embody the vision of establishing a stable, profitable and non-detrimental organization exceeding the expectations of the internal and external stakeholders by providing a product with excellent value worth more than its price.

The product, named CANDLE 'SLigHT, is a transparent candle made of gel wax. The candles are available in many vibrant colors. It is also available in soothing scents. CaNdLe'SLigHT is available in various designs. The product has a way of creating a suitable ambiance depending on the need of the consumer. Packaged in an elegant way, the product is labeled with a sticker of the company logo. The proponents believe that with the way the product was designed, prospective buyers will find it appealing as reflected in the results of the survey conducted.

The proponents chose bars, pubs, casual and fine dining restaurants, and hotels as their primary market. These types of businesses are perceived to be the most likely consumers of the product because such establishments use decorative candles for lighting, decoration, as giveaways and souvenirs. The secondary market is composed of students from De La Salle University and other nearby universities.

According to the results of the market study, wherein a sample size of 260 out of a population of 801 establishments was used, potential monthly demand will be 2,112 units for a market share of 74,62%. The rather large share of the market is credible, considering competitors exist. The product has a total production cost of P 30.53 per unit. Applying a mark-up of 147.5%, the selling price was pegged at P 75.00.

The plant site of the corporation is located at Merville, Parañaque. This plant site was chosen mainly due to its accessibility, as well as because of the availability of adequate amount of space. Additionally, all facilities and amenities are included with the rent.

The proponents also considered the proposed organizational structure and the requisite positions within the corporation. Rules and regulations were also formulated. Furthermore, the proponents discovered that the operation of the business will have no adverse consequences for the socio-economic environment in which it will exist.

Financial analysis also returned favorable results. Profits will be generated during the operation of the business and the resulting return on investment was positive.

In light of all these, it was concluded that the business be established and operations should commence as soon as possible.
