Abstract/Summary
This thesis is an exposition of the article by Richard Darst, Judith Palagallo and Thomas Price, entitled Fractal Tilings in the Plane . It discusses the concepts of fractal tilings and similarity things. Given an Iterated Function System F = [f1....fn], the fractal A generated by F is called a fractal tiling if for i = 1,..., n, f1(A) is similar to A and for i 3 j, f, (A) and f,(A) are disjoint.
Some methods of generating fractal tilings are discussed in this paper. The examples of fractals shown in this thesis are generated using a program in Mathematics.
