Abstract/Summary

Kodak has been providing a wide range of imaging capabilities for over 70 years. Known for its innovativeness and sensitivity to the changing needs of the different publics, they are now planning to introduce a new service which will revolutionize the imaging technology in the Philippines. This research aims to provide the reader a chance to look into the marketability of digitizing microfilm or microfiche into CD-ROM. The methods that were employed in the data gathering process were survey questionnaires (which was aided) and personal interviews. Secondary data was also taken from recent journals and write-ups about the technology. After gathering the questionnaires it was then tabulated and Chi tests were performed. The results and analysis disclosed a potential market for the service. 42.86% of the respondents were willing to acquire the service. It also showed that three variables affected potential intent to acquire the service namely, 1) frequency of retrieval, 2) type of machine used in viewing and 3) volume of rolls developed per year. Furthermore, estimate on its profitability disclosed that, for the banking and medical industry, the estimated revenues will be P 3,906,250 each. The insurance industry will yield P 5,208,333.33. Lastly, the other industries (government and telecommunication) will yield P 12,500,000. The results showed a favorable feedback from the respondents. The group therefore suggests that marketing efforts be increased to provide the public necessary information about the service which could increase possible sales.
