Abstract/Summary
This thesis presents an application of the concepts of multiple linear regression in finding the factors affecting the expenditure and income in palay production in the province of Iloilo. It derived the best model that may be of use in predicting the expenditure and income for palay production.
The factors found to have a significant effect on expenditure are number of bags of urea, complete fertilizer used, liters of insecticide used, hired labor, whether the farmer is a tenant or lessee and whether they use irrigation or not. While for income, the factors found to have a significant effect are production, expenditure, number of parcels of land, frequency of harvest, the ratio of area harvested to planted and the use of tractor.
The assumptions underlying the formulation of regression models were done and checked in order to assure that the model is significant. The Statistical Analysis Software was used in deriving the models for expenditure and income of palay production in Iloilo.
