Abstract/Summary

The case study is aimed at finding out women entrepreneurs' characteristics, motivations, accomplishments and problems. Data was obtained by interviewing ten women entrepreneurs who have met the set qualifications. The results of show that most of the women entrepreneurs are from the age range of 35 to 38 when they started their business. Most of them have college degrees. All of the women entrepreneurs are married. Eight of the informants' parents are businessmen, some professionals, ordinary employees. Most of the interviewees belong to the upper middle and middle class. Majority of them have 4 to 6 siblings and are middle children. Husbands' educational attainment are college graduates. Most of them are businessmen, professionals, ordinary employee. The women have 1 to 3 children or 4 to 6 children. The majority interviewees with an extended family and has household helpers.

Most of the women entrepreneurs have service-related occupational backgrounds, professionals and no work experience. The nature of their business: food industry, retail and wholesale, service-related, manufacturing.

The motivating factors which the women entrepreneurs consider are the following economic reasons, more time for family, self satisfaction, self employment. The people who motivated the entrepreneurs are family and self, friends and parents. They regard their accomplishments through the following: cash in flows, well-off situation, and satisfaction of personal needs. Hard work, perseverance, optimism, resourcefulness, love for work, and honesty, and respect are the measures used for their success.

The problems the women entrepreneurs usually encounter would involve business operations, having poor credibility, and family conflicts.
