Abstract/Summary
This study aims to provide an overview on the feasibility of venturing into manufacturing and selling a product such as a lampshade.
This study shows the feasibility of venturing into a lampshade business in several aspects. This is shown through the presentation of the marketing, technical, management and legal, financial and socio-economic aspects.
The marketing aspect shows that there is a demand for the product and also the specifications of the population in terms of product features, price, place of distribution, packaging and promotional tools to be employed. The population will be composed of households in the following areas: Blue Ridge Village, St. Ignatius Village and Barangay Dona Josefa in Quezon City Morning Side Subdivision and Sociego Compound in Sta. Mesa, Manila Urdaneta Village in Makati City and Barangay 260 in Tondo, Manila. Direct competitors, indirect competitors, project cost and survey results will also be taken into consideration for the price analysis. Methods used for gathering primary data were through the use of survey questionnaires, while for the secondary data, different government centers and offices such as National Census and Statistics Office (NCSO), Product Development and Design Center of the Philippines (PDDCP), and Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) were visited.
The technical aspect shows that the product could be produced for its raw materials are all available locally. Its technical know-how is also present so the product can easily be produced. One will also be able to determine the production process involved as well as the raw materials, equipments, tools and machineries to be used to produce the product in this aspect. Selection of the most accessible plant site for the suppliers and researchers as well as planning for the layout of it will also be tackled. Computing for the project cost and break-even point will also be shown in this aspect. Canvassing was the method used as a means of determining the proper stated selling price. Time and motion study was also put into consideration such that effort, labor and speed would come out as a factor.
In the management and legal, it shows the form of ownership to be adopted that best suits the business and the legal requirements for setting up a business. It will also show its term of existence, its organizational structure and the making of the company's Gantt Chart. Books and other reading materials served as patterns toward this aspect.
In the financial aspect, one will be able to have a projection of the financial performance of the business for a period of ten months and the analysis of its financial standing using different financial ratios. One will also be able to determine the proper allocation of the funds available and the sources of financing for the company. Businessmen and other persons related in these field served as consultants in this aspect.
And for the socio-economic aspect, it shows the social desirability of the product and the factors contributing to its being socially desirable. Businessmen and other resource persons served as consultants with regards to this aspect.
After reading through the whole paper, one must be convinced that engaging into a business such as the manufacturing and selling of a lampshade is profitable and is a business worth-while going into.
