Abstract/Summary
This study was intended to capture and evaluate the Philippine Financial Leasing Industry to be able to make intelligent investment decision. This was intended to meet three objectives: 1. To determine the industry structure through the SWOT & STEP analysis and Michael Porter's Five Forces 2. To determine the industry's position in the industry life cycle approach 3. And to determine the industry trend for the period covered, 1991-1995. A descriptive study was used for this paper. To be concise, the researchers had to review related literature. To arrive at the answer, primary data from leasing companies through survey and interviews were conducted. Secondary data, on the other hand, came from books, articles and lectures gathered from university libraries and associations. This paper concluded the following: 1. The industry structure using the SWOT & STEP analysis with Michael Porter's five forces described the internal and external situation of the industry. The results presented that the leasing industry's weaknesses and threats overshadow its strengths and opportunities. 2. The leasing industry's life cycle position is on the growth to maturity stage. 3. The leasing industry's trend from 1991-1995 showed that though it has not generated large points, it did not incur huge amounts of losses. The industry is stable. Therefore, one industry analysis used in this study alone cannot clearly paint a whole picture of an industry. The researchers recommend that all three tools should be assessed to arrived at an intelligent investment decision.
