Abstract/Summary

In a typical university like De La Salle University, one of the back breaking activities for a professor and a student is making an exam for the former and preparing for an exam for the latter. The said exam thus becomes a tool in measuring the knowledge of the students in a particular domain. At the same time, teachers can evaluate if the objectives of the subjects are being met in the process of student's application of the lessons in the exam. Thus, and exam which is effective is important to both parties. MicroTAB is a tool that gives the teachers the ease in making an efficient exam. The system has several divisions with each division contributing greatly to the system's goal. A Data Bank is provided to keep all objective and problem solving items entered by the teacher. The Test Construction part then, uses the stored items to construct an exam and gives an evaluation of the exams overall difficulty level and the discriminating index will then be compared with the statistical reports and frequency distribution produced in the Result Analysis part. If the difficulty level is low, then naturally, the frequency distribution should imply the same. If the result is not the same then the difficulty level and the discriminating index can be updated using the Item Analysis module. The more frequent the items in the bank are used, the more updated or accurate the difficulty level and the discriminating index of the items will be. Thus, MicroTAB's generated test becomes more and more efficient as the user uses it.
