Abstract/Summary
Electrotherapy and electrodiagnosis both play important roles in muscle diagnosis and treatment. Machines like the chronaxie meter (CM) and electronic stimulator (ES) that produce electric stimulation are used for these purposes. The system aims to upgrade medical services by taking a step in providing an alternative automation of the chronaxie meter and electronic stimulator interfaced to a computer. The electrodiagnosis module of CBEEM uses the principles of the Strength Duration Curve (SDC) which shape determines the diagnosis of muscles. CBEEM automatically graphs and prints the SDC, generates the SDC analysis or impression, maintains patient records containing the general information and SDC/s. On the other hand, the electrotherapy module of CBEEM uses the principles used by ES. However, the ES has now been redesigned as a multiplex system that can output different user defined waveforms through the use of the CBEEM waveform editor included in the package. Different waveforms is necessary for different functions in electrotherapy. In fact, it can also produce Transcutaneous Nerve Stimulation (TENS) used for pain relief and relaxation when the right duration and pulse interval is specified. CBEEM can also be used for experiment/research purposes with the flexibility it can offer through variable frequency, pulse duration, intensity and user defined waveforms.
