The study was all about the perceptions and experiences of young and old couples regarding their gender roles and relationships in the household. The study determines the individual and familial characteristics of young and old couples. Education, perceived values, beliefs and attitudes, family of orientation, occupation and religiosity are the background variables used to explain gender roles and relationships. Respondents were comprised five young couples (aged 18-30) and five old couples (aged 45-72) from low-income households in Navotas. The research utilizes descriptive-exploratory design in which the method employed is the survey. Data gathering for the study was done in four Saturdays. Results indicated that old couples exhibited more traditional gender roles and relationship compared to young couples. Young couples are found to be more egalitarian in doing their household chores.
