Abstract/Summary

J Rich Fashion Inc, is into the manufacture of Levi's Jeans. The study dealt mainly on the production department. From evaluations conducted, it was discovered that the company is unable to meet their due dates in delivering the jeans. Because of this, currently the company has a 26.57% deviation on days delayed. The deviation incurs a large penalty cost of P 231,776 for the months of January to October of 1997.

A critical analysis revealed that the main cause for this delay is an inadequate production output due to a bottleneck in the production line. This bottleneck was attributed to the front section for having the lowest capacity.

In order to reach the objective of the company, which is to deliver the jeans on time, an OPT schedule was utilized. The proposed system enabled the company to increase its production output to reduce the level of delay in the delivery. Aside from increasing the company's revenue, it also provided for a more systematic production schedule that will maximize the throughput of the system.

Upon the correct implementation of the proposed system and thorough monitoring, the company would eliminate the causes of bottleneck and will therefore be capable of producing the demand per day.
