Abstract/Summary
This research paper presents a study on the Philippine Lotto System. The main problem of this thesis is to find strategies that would maximize profit in playing the Lotto. Moreover, this paper tries to investigate the randomness and fairness of lotteries in general. Past winning number combinations will be used and with the aid of a statistical software, the results will be analyzed and interpreted.Normality of the sums in the sample data will be verified and thus giving way to the first optimal solution: by Empirical rule. The two principles in Horace Levinson's book Science of Chance known as The Immaturity of Chances and the The Maturity of Chances will be used to analyze the frequencies of the sums and frequencies of each winning digit. Moreover, uniform assumptions will be verified for the sample data to check if there are biases in the drawing of the winning combinations.
