Abstract/Summary

This study entitled KNOTS AND THE CONWAY POLYNOMIAL, is an introduction to basic knot theory. It mainly focuses on the classification of different types of knots though the use of the Conway polynomials. It discusses the various ways of unkotting by using the three basic types of the Reidemeister Moves. Furthermore, this study discusses how to distinguish whether a given knot is linked or not by computing its linking number. The study presents the derivation of the new equation used in the computation.
