Abstract/Summary

This study is based on the articles On the Vandermonde Matrix by Joseph Rushanan (1989) and The Generalized Vandermonde Matrix by Dan Kalman (1984). It is concerned with a thorough discussion of the Vandermonde matrix -- its properties and applications to polynomial interpolations, recurrence relations and differential equations. Moreover, it discusses how the generalized Vandermonde matrix was derived and gives a detailed proof for the determinant of the Vandermonde matrix.
