Abstract/Summary

This paper aims to identify and describe the effects of Japanese Quality Circles to the various problems encountered by Company E. Primarily, the study will present the problems met by management and personnel of Company E before the adoption of QCC and the changes after its employment in terms of self and mutual development, quality, communication, waste and cost reduction, job satisfaction, productivity, safety, problem solving, team building, linking all people and involvement.The researchers employed the case study method in gathering data on the effects of Quality Control Circles applied in Company E from the top management, the company's consultant/adviser from the middle management, a Circle Leader and one Circle member from the personnel management. The respondents were interviewed to be able to get more specific answers and to clarify questions which the respondents may not be able to understand.After gathering data from the respondents, the researchers were able to enumerate the functions of the QC facilitator, QC leader and QC member. The results were discussed extensively upon the identification of the various problems affecting the company. The solutions suggested by the personnel were implemented, thus making them more enthusiastic in their work. Top, middle and personnel management have a better working relationship.With these findings, the researchers can conclude that, first, despite, the positive changes in self and mutual development of both management and personnel, better communication, job satisfaction, safety, improved problem solving techniques, team building, linking all people and personnel involvement, statistics repressing the financial status of Company E showed minor development because the company suffered a great deal of loss before the employment of Quality Control Circles. There was also a big development in personnel motivation, participation and recognition in Company E. Lastly, Quality Circles can help improve the management system in a business.Based on the study, the researchers can recommend that Quality Circle Leaders should keep on challenging the Circles in order that it would function properly. Also, they can recommend to the future business establishments who wish to apply this concept that modifications on the QC program should be welcomed. It is important that QCC be modified according to or based on the needs of the workers and the company condition. Management must maintain a close relationship with the lower levels of management and personnel.
