Abstract/Summary
This paper is about the universal concept, philosophy, attitude which the Japanese call KAIZEN. It plays a fundamental role in todays Japanese Multinational Enterprise (MNE's).KAIZEN is a very broad subject therefore we chose to focus on the Individual Oriented Kaizen (IOK) particularly on the Suggestion System. In order to provide our study with a more solid foundation, we tapped a Japanese MNE which is engaged in the computer-communications-microelectronics industry. This study does not explain the phenomena or the success of Japanese MNE's. It simply discusses the concept of I0K as applied by a particular Japanese MNE in the Philippines. Our study aims to show that KAIZEN is universal--that it is not bound by cultural differences. The interpretation, analyses and conclusions are based on the surveys which were distributed to the employees and management combined with our knowledge of KAIZEN. We hope to be able to tackle KAIZEN using an exploratory and more descriptive approach.
