Abstract/Summary

The levels of lead and zinc in Chanos chanos and water collected from two sites along Laguna de Bay were monitored monthly for six consecutive months. The heavy metals of both, fish and water samples were determined using the Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer. The average monthly heavy metal content of fish muscles ranged from 0.29 ppm-0.60 ppm and 2.99-3 ppm for lead and zinc respectively. The heavy metal content of the water ranged from 0.15-0.47 ppm for lead and 1.29-3.05 ppm for zinc. The level of lead concentration in the water sample exceeded the criteria set by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.
