Abstract/Summary

Technology has become an integral part of daily operations of almost all the functions of the society today. And more than anything else, technologies are primarily used in any company-may it be small business or multinational companies. With this in mind the research set to find ways by which technology had helped companies achieve sustainability. The researchers made use of a descriptive, causal and historical research design focusing on one Filipino company that possesses the following characteristics: privately-owned Manufacturing Corporation, listed in the Philippine Stock Exchange, has at least 50 years of operation in the Philippines, and has multiple generations of CEO and multiple product or service cycles. By the process of elimination, the researchers ended up with San Miguel Corporation. Interviews were conducted by the researchers to the company's key departments. Based on the interviews, company's annual report and literature gathered, the researchers were able to find out how manpower, budget, technology and management being an input to the company are processed through adaptation, innovation and knowledge transfer to come up with products that meet consumers needs. In doing so, the company is able to achieve its ultimate goal of sustainability. In conclusion, Technology is one of the key factors which makes up a good and lasting business and is indeed used by the company to maintain having the following characteristics of sustainability: 1) sensitivity to the environment 2) cohesion and identity 3) tolerance and decentralization and lastly 4) conservatism in financing.
