Abstract/Summary

Parents have encountered problems when their children roam around the aisles of the supermarkets and have a hard time finding them if they get lost during shopping. This may threaten the security of their children who are vulnerable especially in cases when there are no adults to accompany them.

Accurately locating a mobile device in an indoor environment is an important task. Wi-Fi localization can be used in tracking the position of the target and whether it is still within the supermarket. Knowing the location of the child or whether it is still within the market is very important especially for security purposes. Parents will have a confident feeling if their child is in the place where they want him or her to stay.

A system for indoor location with an automated SMS alert of the target's location was designed in order to tackle this concern. Data and figures which were gathered as a result of this study is presented in this paper. These will hopefully be helpful in designing similar systems in the future with related applications.
