Abstract/Summary
There is money in trash as the saying goes. One such company has made its impact on environmental protection while making money in the process. Recycling the scrap of rubbers used in slippers and similar footwear has made money for the company. Recycling scrap rubber into ground rubber as raw material is cheaper than processing rubber from scratch. As demand for scrap rubber increases, the need to produce more ground rubber increases as well. With the current process and machines at the disposal of the company, supply cannot cope with demand. There is an opportunity to improve the process by limiting manual labor through automation of some of the process in the production of ground rubber more specifically in the straining, cooling and weighing process.
The Automated System for Straining, Cooling and Weighing Ground Rubber was able to attain a high level of confidence in achieving the straining, cooling and weighing ground rubber. The machine was able to effectively separate scrap rubber from the ground rubber during the straining process. It was able to cool all ground rubber as evident through the elimination of liquefaction of any particles and was able to consistently produce the desired weight per each batch. Overall, the machine was able to achieve the objectives set and was able to prove that it is reliable enough to use in the production of ground rubber.
