Abstract/Summary

Eggs, as one of the main agricultural products of the Philippines, have long been a vital part of man's diet. Through the research and interviews conducted, eggs that reach our homes have passed through various manual processes to check their size, type and quality. Various manual processes that require hours of work add up to the stress and fatigue of the laborer. This will eventually lead to breakage and mishandling of eggs. Every mishandling contributes to the loss of the company. The only available machines today in the market are mechanical egg sorters and the rest are done manually. Due to this our group came up with the idea of improving the manual processes involved in the packaging of eggs by automating the placing of eggs into trays.

Sorted eggs are pre-arranged with the use of acrylic combs. Eggs are then picked up by a series of plastic rollers that ensures that there are 6 eggs present in very batch. Batches of eggs then roll down through the slide funnel by gravity and into the tray.

The egg-tray filling process is improved at a rate of 64% by automating the process. With this improvement on the packaging process, good quality eggs will be supplied to every consumer and will result to more profit for the company. The implementation of this Egg Placing Machine to every poultry farm in the Philippines will definitely boost production and profit.
