Abstract/Summary
This research contains product design and development of a LED based rechargeable flashlight system. The product development process has six phases. Phase O, the Planning Phase, focuses on determining which product development project is most desirable and this phase would launch the project with a focused mission that will highly contribute to the success of the product. Phase 1, Concept Development, is the most crucial part of the process this is where the needs of the target market are identified, alternative product concepts generated, evaluated, and selected for further development and testing. Phase 2 is about the System Level Design where the group generated alternative product architecture and had refined the concept chosen at the concept development phase. Phase 3 involves the Detail Design of the product this starts in user-driven processes already in the beginning of the development project parallel to the product development by industrial designers participation in investigating customer needs. In this phase, costs were estimated costs of components assembly and supporting production were identified. In Phase 4 Testing and Refinement, testing was facilitated and quality assurance processes were refined. Phase 5 is a research on Production Ramp-up to evaluate the initial production sales of the product. Essentially, the output of the research is the manufacturing plan for the production of the LED based rechargeable flashlight system.
