Abstract/Summary

In order to know the relationship between tardiness and absenteeism with Grandeur Security Services' costs, performance and operation, the proponents decided to conduct a case study with Grandeur Security and services as its host company. In order to know the address the objective of the paper, the proponents decided to use interview, survey and observation. The proponents allotted one day for the interview, the interview was conducted with Mr. Pol Melo the Human Resource Manager of the said company, with the interview with Mr. Pol Melo, the proponents found out the relationship between absenteeism and the cost incurred with the company. The cost that was incurred where both tangible and intangible, the tangible cost that was incurred where namely, transportation cost, gasoline cost and meal allowance. The intangible cost that was incurred where namely the reputation of the company was affected. For the observation, the proponents found out the relationship between absenteeism to operations of the company, namely the operations was disrupted when one guard was absent because the earlier shift cannot leave the post. For the survey results, the proponents use Chi square analysis in order to find the relationship between the variables and its significance. The proponents concluded based from the results of the chi square test that there is a relationship between absenteeism and the performance of the guards. The performance of the guards are affected because they get upset when their reliever is either late or absent. After conducting the study, the proponents concluded that there is a relationship between absenteeism and tardiness of the employees with the cost, performance and operations of the company. So the proponents recommend decreasing the retirement age since older employees tend to be absent, providing incentives to motivate the employees to work harder. The study serves as a gateway for potential studies on tardiness and absenteeism.
