Abstract/Summary

This thesis introduces enhancement of the security alarms and sensors that most people have in their home. The group designed a system that will allow the user to be notified via SMS if there is a disturbance in his house. He can also check the latest status of the system by logging in to the website.

Since most people have computer, Internet and mobile phone, the group combined these technologies with standard security alarms and sensors to enhance its use. The security alarms and sensors are interfaced to the PIC microcontroller-based module that is designed to communicate with the computer that served as the server. When any of these sensors is triggered, the system will automatically send an SMS message to the user's mobile phone informing him of the situation at hand. A camera that is connected to the system's TV tuner is also used to take snapshots if disturbance is detected. The images can be viewed using the Internet or Internet capable mobile phone.

Having such system will offer mobility to the user since he can be notified through SMS. He can also log in to the website to check the latest status of his home.
