Abstract/Summary
File security is an important issue in a computer especially if it has multiple users. A computer has multiple users if it is used by two or more users. Having multiple users lessens the security of files contained in the computer. A certain user should be able to access another user's file only with proper authorization. Today, there are operating systems that provide security for networked systems. Yet the most widely-used system, Microsoft Windows 9x (specifically Windows 98), fails to offer adequate security for its users. To compensate for it, there are existing software that offer features that facilitate security in a computer running Windows 98. Unfortunately, these do not support multiple user settings.
The proposed system, ACCESS DENIED!, is a system that will provide access levels for files in a multi-user Windows 98 environment. It uses encryption to ensure that files that are locked by registered users are kept confidential.
