Abstract/Summary
Water and 95 ethanol extracts from marine benthic algae from Janao Bay, Anilao, Batangas were screened for antimicrobial activity using the filter-paper disc diffusion method. Six (6) marine algae were screened for antimicrobial activity against the Gram (+) bacteria Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes, the Gram (-) Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Escherichia coli, and the fungus Candida albicans.No antimicrobial activity was detected using the five test microorganisms.
