Abstract/Summary

Seventy-seven members of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) participated in a survey aimed at determining the correlation between the occurrence of injuries and their professional basketball activity. Data gathered showed that the majority (46.8) of these players belong to the age group 26-30 years old while 33.8 are within the 21-25 age bracket. Occurrence of injuries was found to be high in all the five age brackets. Anatomical sites usually involved in the injuries are the lower extremities: ankle (62.3), knee (23.4) and hamstring (23.4). Of the players who spent between 35-44 hours of physical activities per week, 83.3 of them have had injuries within the last two years. Also, 81.1 players who spent only 15-24 hours of physical activities had been injured. On the other hand, the group with the least injuries devote between 25-34 hours of physical activities per week.
