Abstract/Summary
Ampularia luzonica were exposed for ninety six hours to different concentratiopns ( 20 - 150 mg/L ) of arsenic pentoxide. This was done to determine the mortality rate of Ampullaria luzonica to arsenic pentoxide and to estimate the median lethal concentration (LC50) of arsenic pentoxide on the snail. A hundred percent mortality rate was obtained from concentrations 100 mg/L, 120 mg/L and 150 mg/L. For 35 mg/L and 40 mg/L 45.6 percent and 54.1 percent mortality rates were obtained. 63.3 percent and 71.8 percent mortality rates were noted for 45 mg/L and 50 mg/L respectively. On the other hand, 79.6 percent mortality rate was observed from 55 mg/L.The median lethal concentration (LC50) of arsenic pentoxide was found to be 36.4 mg/L. It was obtained using linear regression.
