Abstract/Summary

This paper is devoted to the study of conflict in the novel of Francisco Sionil Jose. Using the theory of Structural Analysis by Roland Barthes, this study will be able to explore the opposition of characters and events. It aims to analyze the different conflicts that can be found in Gagamba: The Spider Man. Through establishing and formulating the structure of the binary oppositions found in the text and supporting the analysis by describing the condition of the events, it, therefore created a clearer application of the theory in the novel.
