Abstract/Summary

HIV and AIDS cases in the Philippines have rapidly increasing. One good way to reduce its number is by giving proper information about HIV/AIDS and its prevention. The primary goal of Philippine Red Cross – Red Cross Youth Service is to give quality life service to everyone most especially to those in need. One of their programs includes providing peer education sessions to youth to make them aware and prevent HIV and AIDS. To properly conduct a peer education session, they train people to hone their skill in giving an effective peer education. The purposed of this study is to provide a teachware for their training of trainers seminar and workshop. The major objective of a training program is to teach necessary skills for the trainees such as counseling, communication and leadership skills. Therefore, the group plans on developing a teachware that will support instructor in teaching skill-related topics that are integrated in an authentic context by using the principles of Cognitive Apprenticeship Theory. The group will also make minor improvements in the content component by teaching it on a situated context making the trainees know the relevance of the knowledge they learn to their actual work. In doing this, the group will use the principles of two theories: Situated Learning Theory and Cognitive Theory of Multimedia Learning.
